Stem cells to regenerate teeth

Soon teeth will be regenerated from stem cells, sending dental implants into the Museum of Dentistry.

Dr Jeremy Mao of Columbia University has developed a technique that can create new teeth. Stem Cells are used to grow the teeth orthotopically within the gums and the socket. Stem Cells will form naturally into a 3D tooth structure implanted into the original tooth’s socket. It is thought that this technique will result in faster recovery time for patients compared to dental implants.
