‘Astounding’ MS Stem Cell Treatment stops disease in 91% of Patients
30/01/2015
Medical journal JAMA Neurology has recently published the results of a study into stem cell treatments used for victims of MS.
In 91% of patients, treatment using stem cells halted the disease. Additionally, 86% of patients experienced lasting remission with no relapses three years after the treatment.
The patients had undergone chemotherapy which had destroyed their immune systems. Once the chemotherapy had been completed the patients were injected with their own stem cells effectively transplanting entire new immune systems. One of the patients who took part in the study went from being housebound to being an active snowboarder.
